May is Cemetery Appreciation Month, a time to honor and preserve the spaces that hold our community's stories. Cemeteries are more than resting places. They're outdoor museums filled with history, remembrance, and connections to those who came before us. Last week, Queen City News stopped by to explore the Town of Matthews in their "What’s in a Name?" series, and we were proud to be part of the story! Today is #NationalHistoricMarkerDay and we're celebrating with one of Matthews' newest connections to its past: the Matthews Depot marker, installed just last year. This historic transportation marker was fully funded by a grant received from the @wgpfoundation. It's a great week to stop by the Matthews Heritage Museum. 🌺 Whether you're enjoying a peaceful stroll through downtown Matthews or soaking in a bit of local history, days like this make it easy to slow down and stay awhile. We're excited to team up with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission and Christ Covenant Church for another Headstone Cleaning on April 18! 🪦 The Museum will be closed on Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday. We will reopen on Saturday, April 4, at 10:00 AM. 🌷
