Tours of the Historic Reid House
Many people drive past the Reid House at 134 West John Street and wish they could see inside.
The Matthews Historical Foundation cares for the Reid House and generally uses it as a rental property. In conjunction with the Foundation, the Museum has developed a new tour of the property focusing on the unique architecture of the structure and the family who lived there.
The Matthews Heritage Museum is pleased to present to the citizens of Matthews and Mecklenburg County a guided tour of the Reid House, built in 1890 by Edward Solomon Reid, son of the founder of Matthews.
Reservations are required. Tours will be limited to 10 people. You may register by calling the Museum at 704-708-4996 or emailing the museum at email@example.com to reserve your spot(s). Please give your name, number of reservations, phone number, and email address. Recommended donation of $5.00 will be accepted on site. We will be offering tours to the public on a quarterly basis, the next at the Victorian Lawn Party on April 22.
